Refund Policy
Last updated: July 6, 2026
This Refund Policy describes when refunds are available for the Online Divorce Texas document preparation service. It forms part of our Terms of Service.
Full refund - before documents are generated
If you have paid for the service but have not yet generated your documents, you are entitled to a full refund. To request a refund, email support@onlinedivorcetx.com from the email address on your account. Refunds in this category are typically processed within 5 business days.
Court rejection guarantee
If the district clerk or the court rejects documents we prepared, we will make it right. Here is how it works:
- Step 1 - send us proof of the rejection. Email support@onlinedivorcetx.com a copy of the rejection notice (for example, the eFileTexas.gov rejection message or the clerk's written response) along with the email address on your account.
- Step 2 - we correct the documents first, free. Most rejections are fixable (a missing attachment, a formatting issue, a field that needs updating). We will correct and regenerate your documents at no charge, usually within 2 business days.
- Step 3 - if we cannot fix it, we refund your fee. If the problem is one our service cannot correct (for example, the rejection shows your case needs something our document preparation service does not provide), we will refund the full document preparation fee to your original payment method.
This guarantee covers rejection of the documents themselves. It does not cover procedural requirements that are outside the documents - for example, filing before the 60-day waiting period has run, a waiver that was not notarized, or a hearing that has not been scheduled. If that happens, we will still help you understand what the court is asking for, and our documents remain valid to re-file once the procedural step is met.
Refunds after documents are generated (other reasons)
Once you have downloaded your prepared documents, the service has been delivered. Outside the court rejection guarantee above, we do not offer refunds for change of mind or for reasons unrelated to a defect in the documents we prepared.
If your prepared documents contain a defect caused by our software (for example, a form field that we failed to populate correctly based on the information you provided), we will correct the defect at no charge. If we cannot correct the defect within a reasonable time, you may request a full refund of the document preparation fee.
What is not refundable
- Court filing fees. These are paid directly to the court and are not part of our service. We have no ability to refund court fees.
- Notary fees. Any notary fees you incur are paid to a third-party notary.
- Court outcomes and delays. We cannot guarantee any particular court outcome and do not refund based on how a judge rules or on delays caused by the court, the clerk's office, your spouse, or any other party outside our control. (Rejection of the documents themselves is covered by the court rejection guarantee above.)
- Inaccurate information. If the documents are inaccurate because the information you provided was inaccurate, we will fix the documents at no charge but will not refund the service fee.
Eligibility-based refunds
If you complete the questionnaire and we determine, before document generation, that your case falls outside the scope of our service (for example, you disclosed minor children, real property, or another factor that disqualifies the case), we will issue a full refund automatically. You do not need to request it.
Chargebacks
If you have a dispute about a charge, please contact us first at support@onlinedivorcetx.com. We will respond within 2 business days. Filing a chargeback with your card issuer before contacting us slows the resolution process and may result in suspension of your account while the dispute is investigated.
How to request a refund
Email support@onlinedivorcetx.com with:
- The email address on your account
- The date of purchase
- The reason for the refund request
We will respond within 2 business days. Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method and typically appear on your statement within 5-10 business days, depending on your card issuer.
